Fluoride. Alcohol. And Your Patients.

Which Products Contain Alcohol?
One of the many questions your patients might have is whether or not ACT contains alcohol. All of ACT Anticavity Rinses are alcohol free and should not increase tooth sensitivity or aggravate mouth sores. ACT Restoring™ Mouthwash do contain alcohol (11%), which provides additional protection against bad breath germs.

A Burst of Fluoride
Because we want to make sure your patients have a healthy smile, we’ve added just the right amount of fluoride to the entire family of ACT products.

  • 0.6 oz, 1 oz, 3 oz and 18 oz bottles of all ACT products contain 0.05% sodium fluoride, which is equivalent to 0.02% of the fluoride ion. This is the maximum amount of fluoride available in rinse form without a prescription.
  • 33 oz bottles of ACT Restoring Mouthwashes (2x/day formula) contain 0.02% sodium fluoride, which is equivalent to 0.009% of the fluoride ion.

Can Patients Get Too Much Fluoride?
Rarely do people get too much fluoride even if your patients’ town has fluoridated water. Given the relatively low concentration of fluoride in ACT Rinses and Mouthwashes, and the fact that it is not ingested, conditions associated with
over-fluoridation such as fluorosis are not considered to be an issue.
