Fluoride. Alcohol. And Your Patients.

Which Products Contain Alcohol?
One of the many questions your patients might have is about the whether or not ACT® contains alcohol. ACT Kids Bubblegum Blowout™ Rinse, ACT Mint™ Rinse and ACT Cinnamon™ Rinse contain no alcohol and should not cause increased sensitivity or aggravate mouth sores. ACT Restoring™ Anticavity Mouthwash does contain alcohol (11%), which is needed to kill bad breath germs.

A Burst of Fluoride
Because we want to make sure your patients have a healthy smile, we’ve added just the right amount of fluoride to ACT Fluoride Rinses and Restoring Mouthwashes.

  • 0.6 oz, 1 oz, 3 oz and 18 oz bottles of all ACT products contain 0.05% sodium fluoride, which is equivalent to 0.02% of the fluoride ion. This is the maximum amount of fluoride available in rinse form without a prescription.
  • A 33 oz bottle of ACT Restoring Mouthwash (2x/day formula) contains 0.02% sodium fluoride, which is equivalent to 0.009% of the fluoride ion.

Can Patients Get Too Much Fluoride?
Rarely do people get too much fluoride even if your patients’ town has fluoridated water. Given the relatively low concentration of fluoride in ACT Fluoride Rinses or Restoring Mouthwashes, and the fact that it is not ingested, conditions associated with over-fluoridation such as fluorosis are not considered to be an issue.
